VIRAL-MI annual meeting brings the consortium together in Duffel

On 14 September 2026, the VIRAL-MI consortium came together in Duffel for our annual meeting. Partners from Belgium, Italy, Norway and Israel joined for an intense day of research updates, discussion and collaboration. Throughout the day, each team presented the latest progress in their research, shared the work completed so far and discussed plans for the next stages of the project.

Different perspectives, shared research

One of the strengths of the VIRAL-MI consortium is the combination of different scientific backgrounds. Bringing together clinical and biological perspectives allows us to discuss results critically and approach research questions from different angles.

This is particularly valuable when working with large epidemiological datasets, where study design and methodology can be challenging. Sharing expertise across the consortium helps us strengthen our research and refine our approaches.

The meeting was also a great opportunity to reconnect with collaborators in person and strengthen the collaborations that drive the project forward.

And there is already more to come: both the Israeli and Norwegian teams have new research outputs in preparation, with paper submissions coming soon. Stay tuned!
